Birch Run, Michigan (Friday, May 15, 2009): A strong field of 18 Pro Late Models were on hand for their 30-lap feature as they took to the 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked paved oval of Dixie Motor Speedway for the first time in the 2009 racing season.

Modifieds graduate, Joe Hodgeson Jr. and Adam Rowe sat on the front row and as the green flag flew, three-time Track Champion Chad Bennett, would pull an amazing move, ducking beneath both Hodgeson Jr., and Rowe to take the lead on lap one.

Bennett would begin to pull away quickly, but two-time defending Track Champion, Ed Doutre Jr. found himself right on Bennett's back bumper just prior to the 1/2 way point of the race. The two drivers would be glued to each other until lap 20, when Doutre Jr., slipped by to take the lead. His lead would be brief however, as Bennett regrouped and drove right back by and retook the lead on lap 23.

Bennett wouldn't look back as the Caro, Michigan driver in his B-C Auto Repair Chevrolet went on to take the Pro Late Models first feature of the season. Doutre Jr., would come home second with two-time Owosso Speedway Pro Late Model Champion, Tony Hoose in third as Welch earned the Schaefer and Bierlin Dodge Hard Charger of the race award with his 17th to fourht place run in his severely damaged ride. 2008 Rookie of the Year, 16-year-old Blake Childers came home in fifth. 

Mark Klein, Curt Genow, Adam Rowe, Jim Hardy, and Rick Osborn Jr. rounding out the Top 10. Doutre Jr., set fast time with a lap measured at 16.143 while 17-year-old Mark Wilcox and Bennett took the heat race wins.
