11:05a.m. (EST) ---- Samsula, Florida (Friday, February 12, 2010): This is Day 8 of Dixie Motor Speedway's coverage of the 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway. This is also the final day of coverage from the 2010 Speedweeks. On tap today is the final race of Speedweeks for the ASA / Crate Late Models as they will run a 25-lap feature. Also in action will be the NASCAR Tour Modifieds who are the headliners with the running of the 25th annual Richie Evans Memorial 100. The SK Modifieds will wrap up their Speedweeks as well while the Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Pro Trucks are also in action.

6:31p.m. (EST) ---- The ASA / Crate Late Models have begun qualifying. Results will be posted when they become available.
4:23p.m. (EST) ---- The ASA / Crate Late Models WILL be qualifying tonight. They will be the last division to qualify.
3:45p.m. (EST) ---- Practice is complete for all six divisions and after a break, Qualifying starts at 4:00p.m. With the schedule change for the ASA / Crate Late Models as they will run their 50-lap feature tonight instead of tomorrow. New Smyrna Speedway Officials haven't decided whether or not the ASA / Crate Late Models will Qualify due to todays schedule change. Originally on todays schedule, they were not scheduled to do so. The other five divisions are all scheduled to Qualify today. One way or the other, the ASA / Crate Late Models last day of Speedweeks will be tomorrow, (Friday. February 12th) If the expected weather does move in and cancel tomorrow's racing activities, the ASA / Crate Late Models portion of Speedweeks will end at that point.
3:10p.m. (EST) ---- Schedule UPDATE; In light of expected weather that's forecasted for tomorrow (Friday, February 12th) and due to the fact the New Smyrna Speedway has already lost two nights due to the weather, the 50-lap Feature for the ASA / Crate Late Models will be tonight and the 25-lap feature scheduled for tonight, has been moved to tomorrow.
This is to give the ASA / Crate Late Models division their big feature of the week without fear of losing it to the weather. In case the weather breaks tomorrow, they will still be in action with a 25-lapper. If they lose tomorrow, the points earned up to and after tonight's big 50-lap Feature, would then become the final 2010 ASA / Crate Late Model Speedweeks Points Standings.
2:45p.m. (EST) ---- It was announced earlier today that the ASA / Crate Late Models will run a 50-lap feature TONIGHT instead of a 25-lap feature. There is also the divisions' 50-lap Speedweeks Finale scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, February 12th.
The 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway wraps up on Saturday, February 13th with the 2010 Speedweeks Finales for the Super Late Models, who will race in the Pete Orr Memorial 100. 2:10p.m. (EST) ---- The Super Late Models headline tonight's racing action with a big 50-lap Feature. Dixie Motor Speedway wants to wish the best of luck to Michigan based drivers, Kelsey Steele and John Long, who are down in Florida competing.
Steele, the daughter of former ARCA Series Champion, Tim Steele, was the 2009 Young Guns Track Champion at Berlin Raceway and the 15-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan is making the big jump up to Super Late Models in 2010 and is expected to compete for the Rookie of the Year title in the CRA Super Series.
Currently, she's tied for 14th in the 2010 Super Late Models Speedweeks Points Standings.
Long is a former competitor in the Super Pro Late Model Series as well as the O'Reilly Auto Parts USA Modifieds Series. The Niles, Michigan veteran has spent the last couple of season racing Super Late Models and Late Models at such tracks as: Kalamazoo Speedway, M-40 Speedway, New Paris Speedway, and Plymouth Speedway.
Currently, he's tied for sixth in the 2010 Super Late Models Speedweeks Points Standings.
11:30a.m. (EST) ---- Samsula, Florida (Thursday, February 11, 2010): Welcome to Day 7 of the 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, Florida. Practice has started as the ASA / Crate Late Models will now be the sole focus of Dixie Motor Speedway's coverage of the 2010 Florida Speedweeks. The Florida / IMCA Modifieds portion of Speedweeks ended last night (Wednesday, February 10th) and a big Congratulations goes out to Two-Time Feature Winner at Dixie in 2009, Travis Eddy as he finished second in the final 2010 Florida / IMCA Modifieds Speedweeks Points Standings. The Midland, Michigan driver finished fourth in last night's caution free 50-lap feature. Overall, Eddy recorded two second place finishes, a third, and a fourth, for Four Top Four finishes to start off his 2010 racing season. Tank Tucker was crowned the 2010 Florida / IMCA Modifieds Speedweeks Champion! As for today (Thursday, February 11th) Practice is on-going and will run until 3:00p.m. After an hour break, Qualifying will start as every division except the ASA / Crate Late Models will Qualify. The Crate Late Models will once again draw for an inversion based on last nights' feature finishing order. So Patrick Laperle, last nights' feature winner, will draw a number between 1-10. Robbie Johnson, who filled in for Dryden, Michigan teenager, Jimmy Novak, finished 21st.
The 17-year-old Novak is expected back behind the wheel of his #53 Novak's Supply and Equipment Chevrolet and will start at the rear of the field. Joining the ASA / Crate Late Models will be the Super Late Models, NASCAR Tour Modifieds, Limited Late Models, SK Modifieds, and Pro Trucks, who'll be making their Speedweeks debut today.

2:55p.m. (EST) ---- A driver change down in Florida as Two-Time Pro Late Models Feature Winner in 2009, Robbie Johnson will climb behind the wheel of Jimmy Novak's #53 Novak's Supply and Equipment Chevrolet in the ASA / Crate Late Models division for the evening.
Johnson, who calls Birch Run, Michigan home and normally pilots his own #21 Bus Stop Inn Chevrolet, has been down at New Smyrna throughout Speedweeks assisting on Novak's crew.
1:15p.m. (EST) ---- Practice will continue until 3:00p.m. Then after a one hour break, Qualifying starts at 4:00p.m., beginning with the NASCAR Tour Modifieds followed by Super Late Models, Florida / IMCA Modifieds, and SK Modifieds. The ASA / Crate Late Models and Limited Late Models will not qualify and instead the last feature winner in both divisions will draw for an inversion between 1-10.

8:52p.m. (EST) ---- Getting word that the invert for the ASA / Crate Late Models was a five, this puts Patrick Laperle and Brandon Johnson on the front row. Jimmy Novak will be starting outside sixth row.
7:31p.m. (EST) ---- Track drying is going much slower than expected, therefore the scheduled 7:30p.m. start time will be delayed.

6:11p.m. (EST) ---- Qualifying has been scrapped for the night. The evenings events will start by points with the points leader drawing for an inversion. Once the track is dry each division will get one brief round of practice and they track is looking to begin at 7:30p.m.

12:20p.m. (EST) ---- Practice has started for all six divisions and will go until 4:00p.m. The rotation for the Practice Sessions will be SK Modifieds, ASA / Crate Late Models, Florida / IMCA Modifieds, Super Late Models, NASCAR Tour Modifieds, and Limited Late Models. Coming into today's action, 17-year-old Jimmy Novak hopes to regroup from a rough outing in last nights' 25-lap ASA / Crate Late Models Feature as the Dryden, Michigan driver in his #53 Novak's Supply and Equipment Chevrolet was involved in a lap six incident and suffered some damage to his machine. He was able to return and log laps, but finished five laps down in 19th place.
"It's just a matter of getting more comfortable with everything that goes with racing these cars. This is only my second feature in a Late Model!" Stated Novak after the feature. "We know we're fast, it's just a matter of getting some good luck on our side and we'll be ok." He added.
Despite his early Speedweeks issues, Novak still sits tied for 10th in the 2010 ASA / Crate Late Models Speedweeks Points with a whopping 10 other drivers in the week long title chase, which ends on Friday, February 12th with a 50-lap feature.

7:00p.m. (EST) ---- In just about 30 minutes racing will begin. The Florida / IMCA Modifieds are the sixth feature scheduled for the night, while the ASA / Crate Late Models will be the third feature of the night.

Their will be no Qualifying for either division, so the team of Jimmy Novak, and his crew, will be able to take a breather and relax for a couple of hours before tonight's festivities. 17-year-old Jimmy Novak and his Novak's Supply and Equipment Chevrolet will now wait until the start of tonight's racing action, as he'll start on the outside of the 10th row (20th) in the 25-lap ASA / Crate Late Models Feature. There still will be an inversion draw for the Crate Late Models, but the inversion can be no higher than 10, so Novak already knows where he'll start his second career Late Model race. Coming into tonight, Novak sits 20th in the 2010 ASA / Crate Late Models Speedweeks Points Standings. Still no sign of Don Morse, however, Travis Eddy is in attendance and he'll sit and wait as later on in the evening he'll find out the results of inversion draw for the 25-lap Florida / IMCA Modifieds Feature as he could start up front or towards the middle of the field, depending on two-time feature winner, Tank Tucker's draw for the inversion. Eddy's Speedweeks results so far consists of a third place on February 6th and a runner-up showing on February 7th. 3:00p.m. (EST) ---- Practice continues for Day IV of the 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing as Travis Eddy, a two-time feature winner in 2009 at Dixie, has had an adventurous day thus far. The Midland, Michigan driver slapped the front stretch wall earlier in the afternoon and as a result, his right front tire came off and bounced over the pit road wall separating the track from pit road. No one was hurt and since then, Eddy and crew have replaced any broken pieces and have since been back out for more Practice.
No sign once again of Don Morse or his #6 Morse Farms Chevrolet. The Birch Run, Michigan veteran has Pre-registered for the entire Speedweeks schedule for the Florida / IMCA Modifieds but has yet to make an appearance.
12:30p.m. (EST) ---- Practice is now in progress at New Smyrna Speedway and is on a rotating basis between the NASCAR Tour Modifieds, ASA / Crate Late Models, SK Modifieds, Florida / IMCA Modifieds, and Sprints until 4:00p.m. Qualifying starts at 4:30p.m. for the SK Modifieds and NASCAR Tour Modifieds. The ASA / Crate Late Models and Florida / IMCA Modifieds will not Qualify. Feature winners; Stephen Hasse (ASA / Crate Late Models - 02/06) and Tank Tucker (Florida / IMCA Modifieds - 02/07) will draw for an inversion based on there last features' finishing order.
9:00a.m. (EST) ---- Samsula, Florida (Monday, February 8, 2010): Today's schedule features the Winged Sprint Cars as headliners while the NASCAR Tour Modifieds and SK Modifieds are also in action. The ASA / Crate Late Models return after a night off while the Florida / IMCA Modifieds are also running for a total of five (5) divisions running on Day IV (Technically Day III with the opening night rain out) of the 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
Jimmy Novak hopes to rebound from a truly up and down night on Saturday, February 6th in the ASA / Crate Late Models division. After Qualifying an impressive second out of 27 cars, Novak's time was thrown out after it was discovered that there was no computer chip in the Ignition Box.
After fixing the ignition issue and starting last in the feature, he regrouped and passed some cars in what was his Late Model debut enroute to a 20th place finish in the caution free 25-lap feature.
We continue to await the debut of Don Morse in the Florida / IMCA Modifieds division.

2:50p.m. (EST) ---- A recap of last nights action as the Florida / IMCA Modifieds 25-lap Feature saw Florida take the first win as Tank Tucker was victorious over Doc McKinnon and Midland, Michigan's Travis Eddy, a two-time feature winner at Dixie in 2009, who completed the Top Three.
No word as of today (Sunday, February 7th) on the status of Morse as we hope to hear one way or the other at some point during the afternoon.
Dixie's other representative, 17-year-old Jimmy Novak qualified an impressive second quick out of 27 ASA / Crate Late Models last night. Unfortunately at post-qualifying tech inspection, the Dryden, Michigan teenager was disqualified for an unspecified infraction.
Novak and his Novak's Supply and Equipment team fixed the infraction and was allowed to tag onto the back end of the 27-car / 25-lap feature. Novak did pass some cars and was shown 20th at the conclusion of the caution free feature. Stephen Nasse won the feature ahead of Sean Bass, Patrick Laperle, Brandon Johnson, and Dustin Delaney, the Top Five.
The ASA / Crate Late Models are off today (Sunday, February 7th) and will resume the remainder of their 2010 Speedweeks schedule tomorrow (Monday, February 8th).
2:35p.m. (EST) ---- Practice has concluded for the four divisions racing today. Those divisions running are (In Order); Limited Late Models, Florida / IMCA Modifieds, Winged Sprint Cars, and Super Late Models.
Qualifying will be for the Sprints and Super Late Models only, the Limited Late Models and Florida / IMCA Modifieds will invert the finishing positions from last nights features. Racing begins today at 4:00p.m., to accomodate those interested in Super Bowl XLIV, which will be held a few hours South of the track in Miami, Florida.
12:55p.m. (EST) ---- Samsula, Florida (Sunday, February 7, 2010): Welcome to a new day of racing at New Smyrna Speedway as the 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing continues with Day III. Today, the Florida / IMCA Modifieds are in action while the ASA / Crate Late Models have the night off. So today will focus primarily on Don Morse, providing he does show.

2:20p.m. (EST) ---- During yesterday's Practice Session prior to the rain out, Jimmy Novak had two-time Pro Late Model Feature Winner at Dixie in 2009, Robbie Johnson climb behind the wheel to help with some set-up issues. Novak climbed back behind the wheel and for the rest of the day and into today, the 17-year-old has been within the unofficial Top 10 in Practice for the ASA / Crate Late Models division.

Practice is complete for all divisions and now the teams will prepare for Qualifying, which is scheduled for 4:00p.m. Immediately after Qualifying, the Drivers Meeting will commence, and then Racing starts at 7:30p.m. The ASA / Crate Late Models are third in line to Qualify while the Florida / IMCA Modifieds will be fifth in line for Time Trials out of the six divisions in attendance. There will be no heat races or last chance races, everyone in attendance will race in the Features only program. Both the ASA / Crate Late Models and Florida / IMCA Modifieds Features will go 25 laps. Also there are no Practice Times to report as they were not made available from the track.
12:05p.m. (EST) ---- Samsula, Florida, (Friday, February 5, 2010): Practice for all divisions started at 11:00a.m., and will be on a rotating basis between the Late Models, Florida / IMCA Modifieds, Super Late Models,NASCAR Tour Modifieds, ASA / Crate Late Models, and the SK Modifieds, until 3:00p.m. Qualifying will start at 4:00p.m., for all divisions. This will be the only day that the ASA / Crate Late Models and Florida / IMCA Modifieds will Qualify. They will then draw for their starting positions for the remainder of Speedweeks.

Jimmy Novak was able to make it out for one Practice Session on Thursday before breaking a locker in the rear end of his new Novak's Supply and Equipment Chevrolet. The 17-year-old enjoyed his first day down in Florida and stated; "We'll have the car fixed and ready for Opening Night down here. I really like the track and I hope to do well against this group."
Birch Run, Michigan veteran, Don Morse looks to do well in his return trip to Speedweeks, although he has yet to arrive. His Morse Farms Chevrolet did not participate in yesterdays Test and Tune. During the 2009 Speedweeks, Morse split time in his ride with the now Two-Time and Defending Dixie Motor Speedway Modifieds Track Champion, Nick Clemens. For 43 years New Smyrna Speedway, located south of Daytona Beach in Samsula, Florida has played host to what has become one of the biggest annual season opening events in short track racing in North America.
The World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, a solid of week of racing, will begin its 44th running from February 5-13, 2010. While the event is held such a distance away from the state of Michigan, the ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval in Florida has no real regional taste to it, with drivers from all over the country as well as Canada entered every year. This year is no exception.
For the 44th edition of the World Series, drivers that make regular appearances at the Dixie Motor Speedway will be heading down south in preparation for the upcoming 2010 racing season, which begins on Friday, April 30th with Opening Night 2010.

Here are the two representatives from the Dixie Motor Speedway who'll be racing down at New Smyrna Speedway during the 44th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing;
6 Don Morse - Birch Run, Michigan The "Flying Farmer" who lives less than a mile from Dixie Motor Speedway will make his annual pilgrimage to Florida Speedweeks competing in the Florida / IMCA Modifieds division. The 2009 Sportsmen of the Year Award Winner at Dixie looks to represent the state of Michigan well down at New Smyrna.
Morse's familiar #6 Morse Farms Chevrolet will be competing on the following six (6) race nights; Friday, February 5th - Saturday, February 6th - Sunday, February 7th - Monday, February 8th - Tuesday, February 9th - and Wednesday, February 10th for the Mods 50-lap Speedweeks finale.
During the 2009 racing season, Morse finished 17th in the final points standings in the Wieland Contracting Modifieds division in limited appearances as the veteran Mod pilot collected three (3) Top 10 finishes with a season high seventh place showing on July 24th. His Top 10s were also his Top 15 showings as well.
For the 2010 racing season, Morse will run the full slate of events at the Dixie Motor Speedway in the Modifieds division beginning with Opening Night 2010 on Friday, April 30th.
53 Jimmy Novak - Dryden, Michigan The now 17-year-old will move up to the Pro Late Models division in 2010 and and is widely considered one of the pre-season favorites to win the 2010 Freshman crown. He'll get a jump start on the upcoming season down in the Sunshine State as he'll compete in the ASA / Crate Late Models Division during Florida Speedweeks.
Novak will be sporting a new #53 Novak's Supply and Equipment Template Bodied / Crate Motored Chevrolet Impala throughout Speedweeks as the ASA / Crate Late Models division will be running on the following six (6) dates; Friday, February 5th - Saturday, February 6th - Monday, February 8th, - Tuesday, February 9th, - Wednesday, February 10th, - and the 50-lap Speedweeks Finale for the division on Friday, February 12th.
During the 2009 racing season, Novak raced in the Teamtech Motorsports Sportsmen division (Now Pro Stocks) and finished an impressive fifth in the final points standings with four (4) top five finishes, including a season high fourth place showing on three separate occassions (5/15, 7/31, and 9/11) He also recorded seven (7) Top 10s and nine (9) Top 15s while racking up two (2) heat race wins.
Once Speedweeks is completed, Novak will then concentrate on the remainder of the 2010 racing season with a full schedule at Dixie Motor Speedway in the Pro Late Models division as well as limited appearances at Dixie's sister track to the Southwest, the Owosso Speedway. Possible appearances are also on tap within the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division and the Super Pro Late Model Series.
