Birch Run, Michigan (Friday, July 30, 2010): The O’Guinn Family Funeral Homes Modifieds 30-lap Feature rolled out next with Don Morse and Jordan Pruitt leading the field to the Citizen’s Bank of Frankenmuth start / finish line and it would be Pruitt rocketing out to the early lead while the rest of the field jockeyed for position behind him.
Two cautions flew before a lap was completed and then a false start forced the teams to try again for a third time. Each time however, Pruitt would still beat Morse to that first corner by a wide margin to take the early advantage. Soon Rick Wiecorek also got by Morse and kept tabs on Pruitt, who was just out in front of him.
The third and final caution of the Feature occurred on lap six when Southern Michigan visitor, Justin Kazmar, a part-time competitor in the O’Reilly Auto Parts USA Modifieds Series, slowed in turn one after slapping the wall. On the final restart, Pruitt led Wiecorek while 2010 Inductee into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame and Eight-Time Track Champion, Tony Brabbs, who was making his first appearance of 2010, was in third.
While Brabbs was busy fending off the field behind him, Pruitt was keeping Wiecorek at a safe distance behind him and after the 30-lap Feature was completed, it would be Pruitt, who makes the 2 ½ hour trek to the track every Friday night from Gaylord, Michigan collecting his second Feature Win of the 2010 racing season in his Gaylord Machine and Fabrication Chevrolet.
Wiecorek finished a season high second with Brabbs fighting off Robbie Johnson and Fast Qualifier Travis Eddy, who completed the Top Five. Current Points Leader Ken O’Connor finished sixth over Two-Time and Defending Track Champion Nick Clemens while Morse, Dave Christensen, and Last Friday’s Feature Winner, Mike Luberda Sr., wrapped up the Top 10.
Eddy won his first O’Guinn Family Funeral Homes Fast Qualifier Award of the year as he toured the 4/10s mile at a 16.249 with Chris Stearns and Wiecorek scoring Heat Race victories.
