2009dixielogosmallThe 2010 Season will soon be here before we know it. Dixie Officials are already working diligently on all aspects of 2010. Amongst those items of interest are Procedures, Points System, and Rookie of the Year Eligibility.

Here is an explanation of some of those minor changes that have been implemented at the famed facility for the Weekly Local Racing Series divisions. Very few and minor changes have been made with regards to all.

Procedures:
Race day procedures will keep the flow of each night of racing going in a timely manner.

Practice:
Practice for all divisions will be conducted on a rotating basis and will be set by the pre-determined order for each race night. At the conclusion of each Practice Session, the next group, according to the pre-determined order, will then run their session, and the rotation continues up until 10 minutes prior to the start of Qualifying. The track will be silent from that point until Qualifying.

Qualifying:
Two (2) consecutive laps, "NO WAVE OFFS" once a driver takes the green flag, they are on the clock for the two allotted laps to Qualify and will NOT be granted any additional laps! The Top 18 in each division will be locked into the Main Feature of each division. Car Counts will determine if a B Main is needed.

1. 22 teams or less in a division, all will start the Main Feature.
2. 23-34 teams in a division will warrant a  B Main / Last Chance Race, unless authorization is granted by a SENIOR Dixie Official to start more than 22 and no more than 24 teams!
3. 35 or more teams in a division will warrant Two (2) B Mains / Last Chance Races!

(NOTE: Dixie Figure 8s will NOT Qualify or run Heat Races. Those teams will DRAW for their starting positions in their Main Feature each night during Intermission)

The Top 18 qualifiers will be locked into A Feature. Every car on hand will race at least twice, with a minimum of a Heat and B Main / Last Chance Race OR A Feature. If one B Main / Last Chance Race is run, the top four (4) will transfer to the A feature. In the event a second B Main / Last Chance Race is necessary, the top two (2) in each B Main / Last Chance Race will transfer to the A feature. Checkered Flag Promotions reserves the right for upwards of two additional promoter's options. Depending on the number of cars, Officials may elect to lock all competitors into the feature.

Preliminary Events / Heat Races:
ALL Heat Races in ALL Divisions will be Eight (8) Laps or Eight (8) Minutes, whichever comes first. Their will be some exceptions to this rule, such as a Red Flag condition, or an extensive clean up, which will allow Dixie Officials to make a judgment call in the event of extenuating circumstances.

In addition, their will be no more than 10 teams per heat race. Dixie Officials have the authority to mandate Four-Car Dashes and / or Australian Pursuit events at any time throughout the regular season. In these cases, Qualifiers 1-4 WILL race in the Dash while Qualifiers 5-14 WILL race in the Australian Pursuits.

Unless circumstances, at the discretion of a Dixie Official, prohibit a team from racing in either the Dash or Australian Pursuit, if a team does not participate in these extracurricular events, which WILL count for points, they will start the Main Feature at the rear of the field!

B Mains / Last Chance Races:
All B Mains / Last Chance Races (Also known as Semi Features, Hooligan Races, Etc.) will be 10, 12 or 15 laps in length depending on car counts in said division. All B Mains / Last Chance Races will transfer the Top Four (4) cars to the Main Feature of said division, unless car counts warrant the use of Two (2) B Mains / Last Chance Races, in that case, the Top Two (2) out of each would transfer.

Features:
The Main Features of the evening will go by the following guidelines for the Weekly Local Racing Series divisions. Up to 22 teams will start a Main Feature. In some instances, no more than 24 teams will start a Main Feature;

Pro Late Models - 30 Laps
Modifieds - 30 Laps
Pro Stocks (Formerly Sportsman) - 25 Laps
Street Stocks - 25 Laps
Bombers - 20 Laps
Figures 8s - 12 Laps
Outlaw Super Late Models Dixie Cup Triple Crown Series - 100 Laps

Special Events with regards to Race Day Procedures and Feature Length for divisions such as the Dixie Cup Triple Crown Series for Outlaw Super Late Models and any Sunday Invitationals at Dixie involving a Weekly Local Racing Series division will be determined and announced well in advance of those events.

The Dixie Cup Triple Crown Series Outlaw Super Late Models will Qualify, run B Main(s) / Last Chance Race(s). if needed, and a Feature only!

ALL traveling series' that visit during the 2010 racing season will utilize their own guidelines with regards to Race Day Procedures.

Rookie Of The Year Eligibility:
The Rookie of the Year eligibility guidelines explains what constitutes a rookie contender in all divisions. Here are those guidelines;

Drivers competing for the "Rookie of the Year" award in any division must meet the following criteria to be eligible and be considered a "Rookie" in their division.

1. Must not have made more than five (5) career appearances / starts in said division they are competiting in at Dixie OR any other track! If the total number of career appearances / starts exceeds five (5), said driver is INELIGIBLE for the Rookie of the Year title.
2. Must not have finished within the Final Top 20 in any previous years Points Standings in said division they are competing in.
3. Must have not participated in what is considered a more advanced division, or a division considered on the same level than the one they are competing in at any time, at any track, prior to the current season.

If a driver does NOT meet these guidelines, they are NOT eligible for the Rookie of the Year title in their division they are competing in.

The Rookie of the Year Award will be presented to the registered driver who records the highest amount of points in said division as well as fulfilling all minimum requirements listed above.

Tie Breaker criteria are as follows:
1. Most Feature Wins
2. Most Appearances
3. Most 2nd Place Feature Finishes and so on down the line until tie is broken
