Points System

The Points System that went into effect during the 2009 racing season returns for the 2010 campaign with very little change. As was the case in the first season under the Checkered Flag Promotions Banner, the focus is on the weekly drivers who grace the Birch Run, Michigan speed plant on a regular basis. Dedication and Loyalty to Dixie is the primary focus of the points system.

Here is how the points system works;

Points for Qualifying:
Fast Qualifier-15 points. 2nd-14, 3rd-13, 4th-12, 5th-11, 6th-10, 7th-9, 8th-8, 9th-7, 10th-6, 11th-? 5 Points.
(NOTE: If a driver shows up on race day and for mechanical and / or other reasons, does not compete, they will receive 5 Show-Up Points, at the discretion of Senior Officials.)

Points for Heat Races and / or any special preliminary event:
1st-10 points, 2nd-9, 3rd-8, 4th-7, 5th-6, 6th-5, 7th-4, 8th-3, 9th-2, 10th-1.
(Note: No more than 10 participants per preliminary event, excluding B Mains)

Points for B Main(s) / Last Chance Race(s):
1st-4th Transfer to Feature/0 Points. 5th-10, 6th-9. 7th-8, 8th-7, 9th-6, 10th-? 5 Points.
(NOTE: If Car Counts warrant Two (2) B Mains, then the Top Two (2) will Transfer and will receive ZERO Points. 3rd place will then receive 10 points, 4th-9, 5th-8, 6th-7, 7th-6, 8th-?-5 Points.)

Points for Main Feature:
1st-50 Points, 2nd-45, 3rd-41, 4th-38, 5th-36, 6th-34, 7th-32, 8th-30, 9th-29, 10th-28, 11th-27, 12th-26, 13th-25, 14th-24, 15th-23, 16th-22, 17th-21, 18th-20, 19th-19, 20th-18, 21st-17, 22nd-16, 23rd-? 15 Points.

On designated nights, Dixie Officials may elect to award equal points to all drivers who participate in special invitational events. Show-up points only, in the amount of 15 points, will be awarded to drivers on said designated nights. No regular points will be rewarded on those designated nights only.

If ANY Event (Such as Qualifying and / or Heat Races) have been completed prior to that nights events later being canceled or postponed, points earned from those event(s) up to the time of the cancelation or postponement WILL count.

Officials may elect to award equal points to all drivers who are in attendance and once the official starting time for Qualifying has passed and that said race night is later canceled or postponed, Show-Up points only, in the amount of five (5) points, will be awarded to drivers on those nights.

This is the key to the Points Standings that will be updated each and every Monday in the mid / late morning hours after a race weekend;
